Short gift inscription on free front endpaper, dated 1947. 334 pages including index. - A wonderful vintage book for birdwatchers, naturalists and local historians in the Ottawa Valley area. The author was a former UK High Commissioner to Canada. This book is magnificently illustrated with 23 photographic plates by Dr. Arthur A. Allen and W.V. Crich F.R.P.S. (includes frontispiece, seven plates in color). The author describes the birds he saw during one full year at Brewery Creek - which was very wild at the time, and is now a mecca for Ottawa bird-watchers. It is only a mile or so from the center of Canada's capital city, and enters the Ottawa River opposite the Ottawa residence of the High Commissioner in Rockcliffe Park.
