The author was a former UK High Commissioner to Canada. This book is magnificently illustrated with 23 photographic plates by Dr. Arthur A. Allen and W.V. Crich F.R.P.S. The author describes the birds he saw during one full year at Brewery Creek - which was very wild at the time, and is now a mecca for Ottawa bird-watchers. It is only a mile or so from the center of Canada's capital city, and enters the Ottawa River opposite the Ottawa residence of the High Commissioner in Rockcliffe Park.
