1) Concordantia in Varronis libros de re rustica
Briggs, Ward W. (editor) with the technical assistance of Timothy R. White and Charles G. Shirley jnr.; Varro, Marcus Terentius (Marco Terentio Varronis)

Concordantia in Varronis libros de re rustica
Georg Olms Verlag, Hildesheim, 1983. Alpha - Omega Reihe A: Lexica, Indizes, Konkordanzen zur klassischen philologie, t. LXV (65). Hard covers, no wrapper. V.g/No Jacket. Lower corners bumped, else a fine almost unused copy. Based on the text of Keil, M. Porci Catonis de Agri Cultura liber M. Terenti Varronis Rerum Rusticarum Libri Tres (Leipzig 1884), which was translated by W.D. Hooper and H.B. Ash (published 1967). A computerised concordance with each word preceded by, and followed by, the associated phrases. The word 'in' generates 1130 entries covering almost twelve pages of text, and 'quod' 551 entries and almost six. Despite Varro's well-attested association with the history of beekeeping, there are surprisingly only five entries for 'apibus' and thirteen for 'apes'. Though not its intended purpose, it also serves as a useful source of index references to classical Latin names of plants such as Cucurbita and Brassica. xi, 366 pp. more information

2) The Oxford Classical Dictionary
Cary, M., Denniston, J.D., Duff, J. Wight, Nock, A.D., Ross, W.D. and H.H. Scullard

The Oxford Classical Dictionary
Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1950. Reprint of 1949 edition. Publisher's blue cloth, no dust jacket. V.g/No Jacket. V.g., cover sl. abraded, sl. foxing to end papers only, internally unshaken and unworn. A standard work of reference for classicists, with terse but comprehensive descriptions and well annotated with sources and cross-references. Some of the entries are exquisitely scholarly, especially those describing profoundly obscure individuals. Achaemenid kings of ancient Persia are sadly given a somewhat perfunctory treatment. xx, 971 pp. As this is a heavy book, please ask for a transport quotation when ordering. more information
