Trenton, NJ: not pubished, 1831-1869 passim. Original manuscripts. leather (2) and marbled paper (1). Good. Three small books. (1) Account book of a Delaware River shad fisherman, April-June 1869, 21 pages, giving the names of his customers, the fish they bought (shad, herring, sturgeon, rockfish), and the prices. The first two pages of this volume, unrelated to the rest, record the formation of the Trenton Home Land Association, 1867, signed by the eight principals, noting their shares. After the account of shad caught and sold, the final 10 pages of this book are the fisherman's expense ledger, naming payees, goods and services purchased, and amounts paid. (2) Expense ledger of Joseph Ashmore, recording two pages of his purchases, mentioning Lamberton, Bordentown, etc., followed by 20 pages of his accounts with The Trenton Banking Co. (1831-1837). The final page lists those with whom Ashmore had business: A. Mitchel, Jos. Quigley, James Lennon, Joshua Carman, Garret D. Wall, Mary Pearson, and others. (3) Account book of Ashmore & King, 1848-1850, recording such items as twine, barge sides, bottom stern, netting, drif[t] net twine, etc. The names of many Lamberton and Trenton families appear throughout these these three volumes.
