This proud auto company had one root of the family tree that sprang from Gustav Otto, son of Nikolaus August Otto, creator of the "Otto-cycle" from which all 4-stroke engines are derived; and another root came from the German town of Eisenach where in 1898 French Decauvilles were built under licence, and by way of Eisenach motor cars, competitors in the early 1900 inter city motor races, to Dixis and then Austin 7's.
