Chauchard was a French military cartographer (see revised edition "Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmakers". There is some general soiling, but given the size of this, it is quite well preserved, with each section having a small "Depot de la Guerre" stamp in an area outside the map image. Augsbourg: Lotter, 1794. Very good, with some general soiling, in remarkably good condition for something this size (slight fraying to some of linen at edges). This is a huge 24 panel linen backed map with title cartouches (both showing military themes with flags and cannon) in both French and German. This is the area of conflict of the Austrian Empire, during the conflicts between France and Germany.
