NY: Arthur A. Levine Books, 2009-02-01. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Signed. Signed first US edition of author's first collection of stories, fables and new (sub)urban myths told in both words and his uniquely fabulous illustrations. Tan's work is hard to describe in any condensed form - which will, in any case, fall far short of the actual reading experience. This copy is signed with gold ink and a red fingerprint flower. If it's too pricey, just do yourself a favor and buy a regular copy from anywhere you want and sit down and read it. Then go find his other books and do the same. Very special. Named one of the top 30 children's books of 2009 by Publshers Weekly. All of our first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted. Dustwrappers are protected with clear archival wraps and we pack each book like it's a Tiffany egg.

This print is the illustration AND the story for Make Your Own Pet, a do-it-yourself recipe for making a live animal companion from previously cherished but now unwanted inanimate objects, fertilized with old birthday cards, used gift wrapping and a secret or two. Canada: McClelland & Stewart, 2008-10-28. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/No dustwrapper as issued. Shaun Tan. Signed. Signed first Canadian edition of author's first collection of stories, fables and new (sub)urban myths told in both words and his uniquely fabulous illustrations. The Canadian edition differs from the Australian and the US versions by having the title page stamp (actual illustration of a stamp with Eric in a teacup) with Canada 2c rather than Australia 2c price. The author told us that the Canadian publisher had requested this change and he acceded to the request, but strongly doubted that he would do anything similar for other countries, making this an exceptional copy. Sort of an incidental in-joke, given one of the stories is titled No Other Country. Signed with gold ink and a red fingerprint flower. All of our first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted. Dustwrappers are protected with clear archival wraps and we pack each book like it's a Tiffany egg.
