I've tried singing The Oxen, and it is wonderful. 61 poems, 26 set to music. Edith King had a distinguished career as an artist, teacher, and poet; her watercolors are in permanent collections in South Africa; "; etc, after 20 years as a teacher, she focussed on painting. I believe this book, "Veld Rhymes", 1911, was her first, written before she became headmistress of a Blomfontein School for Girls.. She later authored several books of verse, and was also featured in Vol I of "Women Poets of the First World War." An uncommon book; 6 listed at WorldCat, 1 in U.S Institutional discount, institutions inquire. Good: solid, with these flaws: name erased on cover, top (see photo); 1/2" corner chipped off bottom front corner, corners bumped; name erasure on free front endpaper; some corners turned.

The "Old Phonograph; While the Old Mill Wheel Keeps Turning; Sixty Cars of Freight; Southern Lullaby, Down in the Hills of Tennessee, etc. Note -- Texan Dalhart started as a classical singer, then In the 1920s and 1930s, he sang on more than 5000 singles (78s) for many labels, employing more than 100 pseudonyms. His 1924 rendition of "Wreck of the Old 97" was the highest-selling single in the first 60 years of recording. This collection contains a Dalhart original, "Wreck of the Circus Train" based on a disaster in Indiana in 1919, but it didn't have the success of Old 97 Uncommon. Amazon has never had it. Condition; Very Good: solid, straight and unmarked. Ships well protected in cardboard.

Hard Cover, brown cloth spine with paper-covered boards, Oblong 7.7" X 9.8", 192 pp. Stuffed with songs which were mainly recently composed, many by Emerson, for singing exercises; "Peter Piper pick'd a peck" is interesting, 4 verses; a few revisions such as "Oft in the Stilly Night". . Poor as cloth is split down rear hinge and covers detached; yet both covers and contents are clean, on good paper, and straight or nearly so (cover bent down at fore-edge where it overhangs the text block); text block very good.

Hardcover in pictorial cloth, 11.8x8.6" oblong, 46 pp. 21 songs with music and lyrics in Swedish, each illustrated in color by Kaj Beckman . Good: solid and unmarked, rust-colored foxing specks on top edge of text block, lower corners bumped.
