Dover: The Rigden, 1834. A rare panorama showing Dover from the sea, extending from Shakespeare's Cliff to South Foreland. Slight wear to the spine, but overall a fine copy, with OCLC listing only Yale and University of Sydney worldwide, and the last copy at auction in 1954. Abbey, Life in England 533.

1876. HARE, Augustus. Walks in Rome. 2 volumes. 473; 473 pp., illustrated with 47 original photographs and a folding map. Small 8vo, 175 x 115 mm., original full vellum, gilt, red edges. London: Daldy, Isbister & Co., 1876. A rare edition of this classic, much reprinted, Victorian guide to Rome in a deluxe version containing original photographs of buildings and art treasures. Hare's guidebook is "regarded by many as responsible for forming the contemporary view of Rome in the English-speaking world" (See: Nilsen, Nineteenth-Century Photographs and Architecture, 2017). Small cracks to the front hinge of each volume. OCLC lists only Harvard and BL for this edition.

1993. FRANCIS, Sam. Wanted Female. By Pierre Guyotat. Illustrated with 7 coloured aquatints by Sam Francis. Folio, 362 x 262 mm., bound in publisher's full red morocco in cloth-covered slipcase. Los Angeles: The Lapis Press, 1993. The splendid coloured aquatints which Francis produced to illustrate Guyotat's text were among the last things he did before his death, and are characteristic of his work. One of an edition of 45 copies signed by Guyotat and Francis.

1937. KAWARAZAKI, Kodo. Waritsuke Hyakushu. 3 volumes, illustrated with 24 colour woodblock plates in each volume for a total of 72. Oblong folio, 330 x 220 mm., bound in publisher's illustrated boards, in a new chitsu case preserving the original label. Kyoto: Uchida Bijutsu Shoritsu, 1937. A spectacular collection of Japanese designs with each of the seventy-two plates containing multiple images. Some soiling to the boards, and occasional discoloration on the areas of blank paper, but all woodcuts are bright and fresh. Rare, with no listing on OCLC.

2002. ASHBERY, John. A Wave. Suite of 8 lithographs by Will Barnet. Small folio. Publisher's linen folding box by Claudia Cohen. New York: 451 Books, 2002. One of an edition of 30 copies, with each of the lithographs signed by Barnet. This suite of signed prints was issued to accompany the edition of Ashbery's A Wave, published by 451 Books in an edition of 90 copies. A Wave is the first book from 451 Books, designed by Sasha Cutter and Charles Miller and printed at the Grenfell Press. This new book has to be one of the most felicitous examples of bookmaking in recent times. The poetry of John Ashbery is perfectly complemented by Barnet's elegantly restrained prints.

2022. Smith, Patti. Woolgathering. 64 pages, including 13 unnumbered color plates. 4to, 256 mm. x 203 mm., in original cloth binding. San Francisco, Arion Press, 2022. One of 250 numbered copies. Woolgathering is a collaboration between two contemporary creative masters: author and singer-songwriter Patti Smith and visual and sound artist Christian Marclay. Smith's first published prose work, written thirty years ago, is an incantatory memoir of the creative process and its wellspring in the world of childhood. Employing a variety of sound ephemera, acrylic LPs, and organic materials, Marclay's crystalline constructions provide a parallel visual score that reflects and refracts the rhythms of Smith's verses and tales. The Arion Press edition of Woolgathering uniquely captures their artistic kinship.

Twenty-seven volumes expanded to fifty-one. 8vo., 237 x 152 mm, bound in full deluxe red morocco, elaborate gilt borders, spines elaborately gilt, silk moire endleaves, turn-ins inlaid with blue morocco, gilt extra with wide dentelles composed of small ornamental tools and large flowers, t.e.g. Garden City, N.Y.: Doubleday, Page & Co., 1914-1920. The Seven Seas Edition, one of 1050 sets printed, signed by the author. An extremely fine copy in a full red morocco binding of the absolute highest quality. Leather bound sets of this quality are very rarely seen on the market. The Seven Seas Edition is one of the most respected and sought-after collected works of Kipling ever printed.
