Shelley - 1996

by Percy Bysshe Shelley

First line

THE task of any editor of Shelley is complicated by the poet's eccentricities of spelling and punctuation, by his carelessness both in transcribing and in correcting the proofs of his poems, and by the fact that many poems were printed without his seeing them through the press himself and many more appeared only after his death, taken from notebooks and manuscripts that were indescribably confused.
