Summary
Chuku, a new employee at the the department of Creative Lights, Opticals, and Unusual Designs in the Sky (a.k.a. C.L.O.U.D.S), is given the job of designing the skies of New York City. At first, the dirty air and tall buildings, and the fact that no one in the city seems to look at the sky, frustrates Chuku, but eventually, the job of creating beautiful skies and sunsets for the people of New York becomes enjoyable. The illustrations were created using gouache, translucent watercolor, colored pencil, and airbrush.

Witness
by Karen Hesse
The year is 1924, and a small town in Vermont has been invaded by an insidious menace: the Ku Klux Klan. As the town turns against its own, no one is safe, especially the two youngest, twelve-year-old Leanora, an African American girl, and six-year-old Esther, who is Jewish. In this story of a community on the brink of disaster, told through the haunting and impassioned voices of its inhabitants, Newbery Medalist Karen Hesse takes readers into the hearts and minds of those who bear witness.
