Summary
Dealing with a common childhood trauma, OWEN is the story of a toddler-aged mouse who is quite attached to Fuzzy, his yellow security blanket. Owen does everything with Fuzzy, from eating his breakfast, to playing in the yard, to visiting the dentist; a situation that doesn't bother Owen's parents-until a nosey neighbor named Mrs. Tweezers says, "Isn't he getting a little old to be carrying that thing around?" Now determined to separate their son from Fuzzy, Owen's parents do all they can to get Owen to give up his security blanket. Owen, however, outwits them every time. As Mrs. Tweezers continues to provide misguided advice, Owen and his family eventually find a way to solve the "Fuzzy situation" to everyone's satisfaction. Illustrated with watercolor and black ink illustrations, OWEN is a 1994 Caldecott Honor Book.

Publisher's Notes
Owen had a fuzzy yellow blanket. Mrs. Tweezers, who lived next door, thought Owen was too old for a blanket. "Haven't you heard of the blanket fairy?" she asked Owen's parents. They hadn't, so Mrs. Tweezers filled them in. Then school started, but this time Owen's mother knew just what to do--and everyone, even Mrs. Tweezers, was happy. Full color. 1994 Caldecott Honor Book.
