Your Vintage Wedding: Unique Ideas and Inspiration for Today's Bride
Eaton, Nancy L
New York: Harper Collins Publishers, 2001. [xii], 155 pages plus several pages for notes. Cream-coloured hardcover with gilt lettering on spine. Book is clean and tight, unmarked and unworn from cover to cover. Patterned endpapers, hundreds of photos both vintage and modern in colour and black and white. Dust jacket is unclipped, shows minor rubbing to extremities and edges, a little scuffing to back panel. Fascinating in its depth, this book is a practical decade-by-decade guide to creating weddings inspired by the first half of the 20th century, but it is also a social history and a history of costume. It doesn't miss much - how to buy a vintage wedding dress on and how to tell when not to buy; what is repairable, what you can accept and live with, and what is irreparable in vintage dresses; and under what circumstances you might want to make your own vintage dress are topics covered (and thoroughly covered) in just part of one chapter. And besides being so informative, it's also an extremely beautiful and well-produced book. Even though I don't have any weddings to plan in the near future, I found it difficult to put this book down! . First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good to Fine. 8.25 x 8.25 in. (20.5cm x 20.5cm).
