Twenty-four different designs from these rich traditions, carefully reduced in scale and accurately charted, make handsome small take-along projects. Designs can be worked on fine, medium or heavy canvas. The patterns have been gleaned from museum collections, and their origins have been carefully researched and documented.

3) The Illustrated Buyer's Guide to Oriental Carpets. 2nd edition
Azizollahoff, Joseph R

Atglen, PA, U.S.A.: Schiffer Publishing, Limited, 2002. ISBN:0764314874. Revised 2nd Edition,. Hardcover. New. 196 p., 418 illus., mostly in color, 22 x 28.5 cm. The revision consists mostly in revising the prices of the rugs that are illustrated. An introductory book, by a 3rd generation rug dealer, who specializes in new, naturally dyed. carpets; the text is oriented towards beginners, and beginners who are probably not going to be collectors, and is heavily weighted with advice on purchasing, rug quality & defects, care & repair. The advice is sometimes interesting: buy large rug. s rather than small ones, because they are cheaper per square foot, and have better resale value in New York, and a presentation of 4 arguments for which new rugs are likely to become valuable in the future. Most of the book however consists of co. lo r plates, from rug dealers & auction houses, with estimated prices. The rugs are new and old, and include also ones with European designs..
