The relevant material on these subjects is included in the text. Petroleum fuels are frequently treated chemically and processed mechanically on modern ships. The characteristics of fuels, fuel chemical treatment, fuel mechanical processing, and the avoidance of combustion chamber deterioration are presented. A chapter on safety and management discusses shipboard engineering operations, shipyard repair planning and economics, safety management, and safety organization.
