It consists of handwritten comments, observations, diary/journal notes, and quotes, storyboards of a proposed TV show, and sheet music. B2 Glossy Printed Wraps Time-warp special for us old-timers. Mason Williams, chief writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, winner of the Grammy twice and an Emmy once, was the last person to testify at the FCC hearings in 1969 relating to a rule limiting network control of local stations. He didn't really comment on the rule in question, but held forth on what he thought was wrong with television as a business and what could be right with television. (Remember, this is the man who made the statement: "Network television wants to keep you dumb so you'll watch it.") He played the guitar, sang, joked, and read from his "F.C.C. Rapport," a journal of various items from 1966 to that day in July 1969 at the F.C.C.This is the "Rapport.".It is perhaps more relevant today than it was 36 years ago, i.e. -- "I never realized how mediocre the world was until I got involved with some of its supposedly top people." But it's not all critical comments, with many insights into making enjoyable entertainment, etc. It even includes all the lyrics to "Cowboy Buckaroo."How long ago was 1969 in real time? This book, with glossy covers, was originally priced at $2.95. ( more information) Offered by Book Junkies (United States)
