Publisher's Notes

The Wheel of Time is a very intense book that has a force of its own. This book is a collection of quotations derived from Carlos Castaneda's books about his apprenticeship with don Juan Matus. The quotations, by themselves, show a strand of continuity which was not dictated by the teacher, don Juan, nor by the student, Carlos Castaneda. It seems to be an independent trend set in motion by the shamans of ancient Mexico themselves.
Accompanying the quotations, Carlos Castaneda has written his personal commentaries. Together, the quotations and commentaries create a counterpoint of ideas that will be of great interest to the reader. The book deals with the wheel of time, one of the most astounding concepts of the cognitive world of the shamans of ancient Mexico, and Dr. Castaneda lets the concept show through in a way that is impossible to describe any further unless you have the book in your hand....

Don Juan and the Art of Sexual Energy
by Merilyn Tunneshende

Readers of Carlos Casteneda have often complained that his work in ancient Meso-american shamanism never covered sexual practices beyond celibacy. With his death in 1998 it seemed that these practices might never be revealed, but fortunately Merilyn Tunneshende has stepped in. Set against the backdrop of the golden deserts of Sonora, Mexico, DON JUAN & THE ART OF SEXUAL ENERGY recounts Tunneshende's initiation into the ancient sexual energy practices of the Toltec-Mayan tradition. Under the tutelage of don Juan Matus, Chon Yakil (whom Castenada referred to as Don Genaro), and dona Celestina de la Soledad, she learns to reclaim her feminine power and balance the masculine and feminine forces within herself. At the heart of the book is the mythical Rainbow Serpent: the phallic energy within women, the creative power within men. Each chapter focuses on a particular technique for awakening the serpent and connecting with its energy. Twenty-two sequential practices are covered, providing a powerful program for serious spiritual transformation.

The Man Who Knew the Medicine
by Henry Niese

The teachings of Bill Eagle Feather, Sun Dance chief and medicine man of the Rosebud Sioux, as told by his apprentice. * Reveals personal accounts of important Native American rituals such as the yuwipi and the sun dance. * Includes stories and teachings from the last years of Bill Eagle Feather's life. Lakota medicine man Bill Schweigman Eagle Feather gained widespread recognition as an uncompromising spiritual leader in the 1960s when he defied a U.S. government ban on Indian religious practice and performed the Sun Dance ritual with public piercing. He continued on as Sun Dance chief and teacher of the Lakota way of life until his death in 1980. Author Henry Niese met Bill Eagle Feather during a sweatlodge ceremony preceding a Sun Dance on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in 1975. That was the beginning of the relationship between student and teacher that is captured with humor and respect in The Man Who Knew the Medicine. Niese brings readers along on his journey from outsider to initiate to elder, a transformation guided by Bill Eagle Feather. He describes sacred traditions such as the sweatlodge, the yuwipi, and the powerful Sioux Sun Dance, which Niese participated in for 16 years on the Rosebud reservation. His firsthand accounts provide a portal into a sacred reality as well as insight into the struggles of the Indian community to perpetuate its values and religious truths in the context of contemporary America. Above all, The Man Who Knew the Medicine offers the opportunity to experience the unique personality of a fascinating individual and respected healer through the eyes of a friend and a student.
