Opening with the actual storming of the beach and continuing behind enemy lines, a squad of U.S. army soldiers put their lives in perilous danger to find one paratrooper. Part II. The Mission. James' powerful studies of the squad of eight soldiers, led byTom Hanks, as they try and fulfill their mission arc accented by extracts drawn from the screenplay. Part III. The Movie. Behind-the-scenes photos of the film-makers at work -- in England at boot camp, on the beaches of Ireland -- are combined with interviews with Spielberg, actors Hanks, Burns, Sizemore, and others, screenwriter Robert Rodat, producer Ian Bryce, production designer Tom Sanders, and cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski (Schindler's List.)
