Paris: Veuve David, 1768. These two antique hardcover books are bound in brown leather boards with gilt spine lettering. Page edges and endpapers are marbled. Covers are worn; leather chipped at corners and spine ends. Binding loose, but holding. Owner's name on second endpaper of each volume. Foxing within. These are vols. 3 and 6 from a French-language set of the works of Moliere. Included are the following titles, as given: "M. de pour Ceaugnac," "Les Amants Magnifiques" and "Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme," vol. 6; and "La Critique de l'Ecole des Femmes," "L'Inpromptu de Versailles," "La Princesse d'Elide," "Festes de Versailles, en 1664," "Le Mariage Force" and "Dom Juan." Each is approx. 350 pages, 3"x5".. Hard Cover. Fair/No Jacket. Illus. by Illustrated.

He is widely regarded as one of the great writers in the French language and world literature. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are still performed at the Comédie-Française. His influence is such that the French language is often referred to as the ""language of Molière"".With colored plates by Mm. Geffroy and H.
