Asheville, NC April 14, 2005 -- Biblio.com, one of the world's largest suppliers of used, rare, and out-of-print books announced today a new strategic partnership with BiblioQuest International. Biblio.com provides an online service connecting book buyers and collectors with thousands of independent booksellers worldwide. BiblioQuest is the owner BibliOZ.com, Australia's leading search service for out-of-print, and collectible books.
The new BibliOZ.com Reseller Program will allow booksellers that currently list their inventory with Biblio.com, to also optionally list their books through BibliOZ.com, thus opening a separate sales channel to the Australian book buying market. Australia's yearly book purchases are estimated at well over one billion Australian dollars.
"Through our strategic partnership with BiblioQuest International, we are not only adding a substantial sales venue for our booksellers, but we are also excited to be forging a mutually beneficial relationship with a major international partner that shares our core values," said Brendan Sherar, President and CEO of Biblio.com, Inc.
Biblio.com and BiblioQuest International will begin signing up booksellers for the new program today, and BibliOZ.com will make their new partner's book listings available to the public through their web site on the 26th of April.
Paul McShane, the Managing Director of BiblioQuest International said, "Our alliance with Biblio.com on this program and other projects we have planned provides another option for booksellers to diversify and grow their sales in a cost-effective way."
BiblioQuest International Pty Ltd (BQI) was established in 1994 and soon became recognized as Australia's leading specialist book search service, mainly due to the fact that BQI secured agreements with the major Australian bookshop chains to provide an out-of-print search referral system for their customers. BQI established BibliOZ.com through reseller programs with online booksellers worldwide. BQI also continues to have a book search operation conducted by their freecall telephone service center that has a growing customer base among leading libraries in Australia and New Zealand.
BiblioQuest has been an active player in the international online bookselling community, and as such has seen many changes in the market over that time but have continued to survive and to prosper. The company is located in Bowral, in Southeast Australia.
Biblio.com Inc. is now one of the leading sources for used, rare, out-of-print, and hard-to-find books in the world. With the launch of their online services in February 2003, Biblio.com entered a market dominated by several major companies, as well as more than a dozen smaller competitors. With substantial growth in the last two years, Biblio.com has gone from a fledgling company to becoming the third largest site of its kind in the world. Biblio.com currently offers 17 million titles from 2600 independent booksellers in 24 countries.
