Description:
Alfred A. Knopf. New York.,1992-98. FIRST EDITIONS. 1st impressions. Three Volumes. 8vo. (8.6 x 6.1 inches). Fine, bright copies in the publishers fine original dustwrappers, designed by Chip Kidd. A fine set of true first editons of this hugely popular trilogy. There is some confusion about a probable trial issue dustwrapper for the first title, with no advance praise notices on the lower panel and lacking the blue capital letter 'A' at the start of the blurb inside the front flap. This wrapper was not officially issued with the published book. The first edition wrapper, as issued on day of publication, has the price of $21.00 on the inner front flap and the number code '5/92' at the bottom of the inner rear flap. The wrapper on All the Pretty horses in this set has both of these points.

The Ruby in the Smoke
by Pullman, Philip
Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1985. First edition. Near Fine/near fine. THIS BOOK IS ON RESERVE FOR A CUSTOMER. A Near Fine copy (pastedowns and free endpapers replaced, minor opening crease to spine, corners and spine ends bumped) in a Near Fine jacket (light rubs at corners), SIGNED BY PHILIP PULLMAN on the title page. The first edition of this highly sought after book in acceptable condition is hard enough to find, and a signed copy is harder still. The book is virtually unworn (spine very lightly bumped, first number of pages have a bit of a wave, and age toning, and there are a very few pages with a crease from folding) with the corners are sharp and unworn (one corner bumped) and the silver spine lettering is complete, unrubbed, unflaked and quite bright. The dust jacket has a small bump at the same corner where the book is bumped, and very light wrinkling, but is quite clean and attractive with rich, vibrant colors. Many copies found are ex-library, and, while this copy is no exception, it seems to have escaped heavy reading and also to have escaped heavy marking by the library, which made minimal notice of its ownership and left the title, half-title and the text unmarked. There is a rough area to the ffep, which is stamped "Withdrawls For Sale", the copywrite page is stamped with the library name and is marked with a neat identification number within the print, but not affecting it and there is a small stray pen mark. There are no card pockets nor any evidence of removal thereof. All in all a rather nice copy of a difficult book to find, and especially difficult to find SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. THIS BOOK IS ON RESERVE FOR A CUSTOMER.

Description:
NY: Knopf, 1965. First edition, first prnt. Signed by Tyler on the title page. Laid in is a typed note with ink signature on 6x7 inch 20lb stock. "Louise: here is a peculiar little book which I was suppose (sic) to review but couldn't think of anything to say about -- which is not to say I didn't like it. But it left me baffled. See what you think. It's coming out this month. Behave yourself. Either get rid of the whiskey or the scatter rugs. I know what I'd do. Love, (indecipherable first name signature - could be "Helen")." The front board has a faint rust mark left by a paperclip; otherwise it is an exceptionally clean, tight copy; the dustjacket has the upper corners just touched, mildly sunned spine and a shallow paperclip impression on the front panel upper edge - see scan. The note (which obviously does not refer to the novel)is folded in half with few shallow wrinkles. Near Fine condition in a Very Good dustjacket with an archival cover. Tyler's second…

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence.
