Oxford UK, Carcanet Press, 1970, softcover in self-wrappers, 16 pp, first printing of the first edition, limited to 600 copies of which 40 were signed by the author, this being copy number 28, Signed and dated October 1970 on the title page. Straight, tight and clean with no other markings, light edge and corner bumps. The first book from the award-winning author, poet, translator and authority on Vietnamese literature.

New York: Alfred a Knopf, 1966. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. First American Edition.. First printing. Brown paper-covered boards quarter bound in red cloth. Gilt lettering. Previous owner's name and an H-in-a-circle are on the front free endpaper. Otherwise fine. The dust jacket has moderate edgewear, with frayed spine tail and a 1/2" closed tear. There are scuffed spots on the spine. The price, $3.95, is present on the front flap, along with the 2/66 date code. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Substantial wear to leather bindings, but otherwise very good with prior owner name in ink to title pages but contents otherwise rather bright.. Largely lost to obscurity in modernity, Shenstone was of significant influence in the latter half of the eighteenth century. Robert Burns referred to him as of of his favorite authors, and later referenced Shenstone in the Kilmarnock edition of his poems, with utmost praise, calling him "that celebrated poet whose divine Elegies do honour our language, our nation, and our species." SIGNED by Somerset Maugham on the limitation page in the front of the book, one of 1,000 signed and numbered copies (ours is number 342). A collection of short excerpts from the notebooks that Maugham kept during much of his life, with entries ranging from 1892 to 1944 and covering numerous countries. Maugham had a keen power of observation, writing vividly about the people he met and the places he visited. This listing is for a booklet / program signed in person by Motown recording legend Smokey Robinson as part of an event held in 2012 at the El Portal Theater in North Hollywood CA. Luminously signed on the title page, the booklet measures 8-1/2x11 and comes with two additional program flyers. Condition of all items is as new.

Hay on Wye: Aquarium / Kestrel Gallery, 2005. Signed limited edition (50 copies) book with hand painted original cover. Published by Aquarium & Kestrel Gallery, Hay-on-Wye. Signed and numbered to back board by Billy Childish, with Hangman gallows and Aquarium sea horse stamps. Book is number 33 of only 50. There is a second signature on a heavy paper (almost like a bookplate) tipped into the inside of the front board. This is also adorned with one of Childish's hangman block cuts (a different one to that on the rear board. There is also a small red stamp that looks Chinese, but is indecipherable. 16 pages on heavy stock. Poetry in red type. 12 full colour plates. Hand bound hardback in hessian boards. Red handmade paper endpapers. Book in very good condition with just a touch of darkening to edge of front board (from handling we suspect). 110 x 90 mm (4¼ x 3½ inches).

Fine copy in original half black cloth binding with gilt lettering and ruled lines to spine. Marbled paper on boards. Housed in the original marbled paper covered slip-case with printed paper label on spine. Slip-case with some rubbing and chipping to edges but has done its job and kept the book in fine condition. A superb copy of this lovely book.
