Clifford Donald Simak (August 3, 1904 - April 25, 1988) was an American science fiction author.
He won several Hugo and Nebula awards. He was born in Millville, Wisconson. He attended the University of Wisconsin and later worked with various newspapers. Simak worked as a newspaperman for most of his life and only became a full time writer of sf after his retirement. His first published story appeared in Wonder Stories in 1931. He received the Grand Master Nebula Award in 1976. He died in Minneapolis, Minnesota
