Near-contemporary green full calf, spines in compartments with tooling in gilt and dark green, two burgundy morocco labels to each, sides panelled with triple rules, fleurons to corners, and foliate patterning all in dark green, marbled endpapers and edges. Engraved portrait frontispiece to the first volume, and a vignette title page to each volume. Contemporary ownership inscription to each volume. Spines browned, covers mildly rubbed and marked, dark-green tooling faded, marks or stains to some early and late leaves, but on the whole a sound, attractive library set in very good condition. A handsomely bound library set of Walter Scott's poetical works, printed in Edinburgh during Scott's lifetime.

Portrait frontispiece with tissue guard, 12 plates. Spine faded, some small stains and a little scuffing to the boards, tips worn, front pastedown abraded in places, mild foxing to the endleaves. Yellow endpapers with small bookseller's ticket on front paste-down and former owner's name on front free endpaper. Illustrated with 12 mounted albumen photos (generally 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches) of the Scottish landmarks and countryside, plus a photo vignette of Scott's portrait on the title page. Title page in black and red with red frames surrounding photographs and double-column text. Captions in red. A little rubbed at edges, spine slightly darkened, and gilt a little dull at top edge. Inner hinges cracking but still strong and secure; photos in quite good condition, many with a rich dark range of tones. Some sources suggest the photos are taken by Scottish photographer G. W. Wilson. .
