When I was in high school, I used to think T.S. Eliot was the greatest poet that ever lived. Since then, I've studied different poetry movements, written my own rhymes, participated in "freestyle" hip-hop lyrics, and watched friends publish their chapbooks using the last few dollars they have in their savings accounts. While I still enjoy reading Eliot, I've realized that poetry is defined in a much wider scope than what we're assigned in a literature class.
So we're focusing this month's Unbound on the art of poetry. Also, we visit Archer City, Texas, our next stop in our "Book Towns" series, and provide some tips for students' summer reading.
Enjoy!
