Biography of a Russian statesman and prince in seventeenth century Russia. As one of the leading figures in Russian politics, Prince Golitsyn developed an appreciation of contemporary Western cultures and mixed freely with Western visitors. In 1682 he assumed the control of Russia's foreign affairs and became the regent's chief minister. After he fell from power and was ousted by Peter I., he spent his life in exile where he died in 1714. 129 pages.
