About the author

Renee Wade became a nature lover as a young toddler, taking mud baths and listening to the corn leaves rustle in the breeze in the family backyard in Los Angeles. She grew her own first garden as a sophomore in college, planting carrots and corn in a small rented plot. That garden was a disaster, but it fueled her desire to explore gardening and farming and food growing. After graduating with a degree in Ecological Agriculture from The Evergreen State College, she apprenticed with the UC Santa Cruz Farm and Garden program and Farrallones Institute (now Occidental Arts and Ecology Center), where she became an expert in growing mesclun salad mixes. Those glorious salads as well as her concurrent studies in biodynamic agriculture convinced her that agriculture is both a healing art and a healing science. She was hooked. A certified Permaculture Designer since 1997, Renee brings her ecological and food growing skills to the landscape, creating designs that feed and nurture body, mind, and spirit. She has also trained in many energetic and intuitive modalities, including Matrix Energetics, and she is currently pursuing studies in sound healing. Renee brings these skills to her gardens, fostering health on many levels for people, plants, animals, and soil. She is dedicated to helping people reclaim their kinship with Earth and with nature.
