New York: Harper & Brothers, 1892. Limited edition. Hardcover. Very good. 8vo. Full vellum over boards blocked in gilt with Yapp edges. Illustrated by Harry W. McVickar. One of 250 numbered copies of which this is number 99. Vellum significantly mottled else this this is a very good copy. Presentation copy from the publisher to his wife: "Caroline Sleeper Harper from her Husband, Christmas, 1892." Caroline Sleeper Harper was the wife of Joseph Wesley Harper Jr., a businessman and the son of one of the founders of Harper & Brothers, a prominent publishing firm. She was the mother of Henry Sleeper Harper, a passenger on the RMS Titanic who survived the sinking. Her husband, Joseph Wesley Harper Jr. (1825-1896), was the son of Joseph Wesley Harper, one of the founders of Harper & Brothers. He joined the firm in 1848 and became a partner in 1851.
