San Patricio, New Mexico: Unpublished, 1956. Handwritten letter (ALS) from New Mexico artist John Liggett Meigs to his longtime friend and traveling companion, the famed harpist Mildred Dilling. The letter is both SIGNED by Meigs and adorned with an ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR LANDSCAPE sketch by the artist. The content of the letter (a single sheet with text on front and back), includes travel plans (Hawaii or Europe), Meigs' art (painting sold to Roswell Museum), and an invitation for Dilling to stay with during her next concert tour. New York: Unpublished, 1964. Postcard dated May 25, 1964, with a return address of 15 West 67 St. N.Y.C., and addressed to Fraser Neiman in Williamsburg, Virginia. The text of the postcard reads: "Dear Mr. Neiman: My visit in 1957 was very pleasant, and I like to think back on it and the friends I met. Fall next year is bad for me because I have a quite strenuous program of teaching at Harvard and commuting from here. I've made a rule to [sic] to read during this period. I'm afraid I can't, but I am touched that you should want me not once but twice. Yours sincerely," followed by a full signature ("Robert Lowell") in red ink. Fraser Neiman taught English at the College of William and Mary and was responsible for finding speakers/readers for special occasions. The postcard is lightly toned, otherwise in very good condition.. SIGNED. First Edition. Paper. Very Good. 3 1/4" X 5 1/2". Manuscript.
