In spite of his conservative mother's preference that he play in a reputable establishment, a skilled young pianist makes a living playing in a jazz orchestra. Filmed at Carnegie Hall, and featuring appearances by several noted musicians of the time, including Arthur Rubinstein, Lily Pons, Fritz Reiner, Bruno Walter, Jan Peerce, and Vaughn Monroe.
