About This Item

Beverly Hills, CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM], 1962. Collection of six vintage contact sheets featuring 54 images from the set of the 1962 film. The images show Brando in costume on the set, posing with co-star Tarita Teriipaia, who he would later marry, cast and crew filming a boat landing, and many images of relaxing locals in traditional garb, preparing for their work as extras, with and without members of the crew, all taken on location on one of the islands in French Polynesian where the film was shot.

Based on the 1932 novel by Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall, itself a fictionalized account of the real life mutiny aboard a British ship in 1789. The third of three film versions, the other two being in 1933 and 1935. Nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Contact sheets 8.5 x 11 inches, images roughly 2.25 x 2.25 inches. Near Fine.
