Federico Fellini's compassionate and grounded masterpiece, with a stunning and heart-breaking performance from (Fellini's wife) Masina as Cabiria, a naive prostitute with a resilient soul, navigating through devastating misfortunes searching for love. Basis for the 1966 American musical "Sweet Charity," by Cy Coleman, Dorothy Fields, and Neil Simon, which was later made into the 1969 movie musical directed by Bob Fosse, and starring Shirley MacLaine. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Nominated for the Palme d'Or.
