Paris: Parc Film, 1964. Vintage borderless photograph of Jacques Demy and Catherine Deneuve on the set of the 1964 French musical. With extensive holograph annotations in blue marker and the production company's rubber stamp on the verso.

Genevieve (Catherine Deneuve), works at her widowed mother's umbrella boutique and Guy (Nino Castelnuovo), a young mechanic, fall in love in the beautiful coastal town of Cherbourg. She becomes pregnant just before Guy goes off to fight in the Algerian War. In his absence Genevieve is faced with the difficult decision of whether to move-on and marry another man or to wait for Guy to return. Winner of the Palme d'Or and two other prizes at the 1964 Cannes Film Festival, and nominated for five Academy Awards.

Shot on location in Cherbourg, France.

Vintage borderless press photograph of actor Catherine Deneuve and composer Michel Legrand at the awards ceremony for the Louis Delluc Prize, given to the best French film of the year, which "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" received in 1964. With the stamps of ADP press agency and a French-language mimeo snipe on the verso. In addition to that award, the film won the Palme d'Or and two other prizes at the 1964 Cannes Film Festival, and was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Foreign Language Film, Best Original Screenplay, and the first three nominations of Legrand's storied career as a composer.
