Paris, 1765. Copper engraving, beautifully hand coloured. Originally designed to be viewed through a zograscope. Title in French. Shows Haringpakkerstoren, adn the Haringpakkerij, with its bridge. After Willem Writs. In very good condition, under neat card mount. Visible area within card mount: 315 x 415 mm (12½ x 16¼ inches). A zograscope is an optical device for magnifying flat images, as the shape of the lens enhanced the sense of the depth shown in the picture. The precursor to 3D images! These were very fashionable in the late 18th century. Gravure sur cuivre, magnifiquement colorée à la main. Conçu à l'origine pour être vu à travers un zograscope. Titre en français. Willem Writs. Montre la Haringpakkerstoren, et Haringpakkerijet. En très bon état, sous passe-partout soigné. 315 x 415 mm Un zograscope est un appareil optique pour agrandir des images plates, car la forme de l'objectif améliore le sens de la profondeur montrée dans l'image. Clean tidy print, with slight untidiness to cut edge (outside the black ruled frame). Fractional browning to edges. Mount is clean and neat. Issued as number 174, in a series entitled: Political sketches - Issued in 5 volumes. (Daniel O'Connell; Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey) Description is: Lord Grey is endeavouring to allure Mr. O'Connell by the offer of a place. The inscription of Courier on his rod, intimates that the offer was made in a paragraph, put out by way of a feeler, in the evening newspaper bearing that title. She is lying on her side and captured from a rear view. Under glass, in a gilt wood frame with a cream mount. Image measures 130 mm x 270 mm. Total size (in frame) 250 x 395 mm (9¾ x 15½ inches). Jean-Auguste Vyboud (1872-1944) was a painter and engraver who studied under Gustave Moreau and François Flameng. Belle eau-forte en cuivre sanguine féminine nue signée sur papier épais, avec la signature de l'artiste au crayon dans le coin inférieur droit. Le sujet est un gracieux nu féminin allongé. Elle est allongée sur le côté et capturée en vue arrière. Sous verre, dans un cadre en bois doré avec une monture crème. L'image mesure 130 mm x 270 mm. Taille totale (dans le cadre) 250 x 395 mm. Marie Therese Robert was an Art Deco student at 'Academie Julian' in Paris in the early 1930's. The Academie still exists today, and is now known as ESAG Penninghen.
