About This Item

Burlington, Vermont, 1840. unbound. 1 page, 10 x 8 inches, Burlington, Vermont, December 7, 1840. Written by Harry Bradley to Dr. Fairbanks, with the hopes that he will be appointed to the post of Collector, since William Henry Harrison has captured the Presidency: "...General Harrison will make thorough work in the Custom Department here and in that case I should like to get to appointments of Collector. Will you see General Mattock upon the subject - immediately or write him. The Delegation from the State will undoubtedly have great influence in making the appointment with General Mattock. I have no personal acquaintance. I shall feel under much obligation for any interest you may take in this matter..." Natural folds; one smudged word. Near fine condition.
