New Bibliodirect "Search my listings"

Many of you will no doubt notice that we’ve made some changes to the way you search for your books in order to edit, delete, add photos, etc.  Previously the only way you were able to do this was by searching for your inventory on Biblio.com just as a customer would.

While you’re still welcome to do so, we’ve tried to make it easier for you by keeping that search on Bibliodirect.  This makes it easier for you to see the information and tools you need to manage your listings (without having to see all the customer oriented stuff too), as well as provides ways you can easily view how those listings will look on other Biblio-powered sites, such as ABAA and IOBA.

The other problem this solves is for the small handful of booksellers who list on Biblio.co.uk, ABAA or IOBA who do not list books on Biblio.com.  Previously, there was no easy way for them to search their inventory for editing / removal, etc.  This makes it possible for them to more easily manage their inventory in the same simple way that Biblio.com booksellers have been accustomed to.

Meanwhile, we hope you like, and also that you won’t hesitate to let us know if anything isn’t working quite right with this new tool!

Nice explanation. However, you do not explain how to actually do it!!! I’m trying to delete one book and there is no clear link.

Sorry about that – simply click on search my listings, or here’s the link: http://www.biblio.com/usedbooksearch.bib?bibliodirect=1 (of course you have to be logged in). Once you find your book, you should see the delete link prominently displayed.

Don’t worry, its really no different than before, except that we’ve made it so you don’t have to wade through all the add to cart / wishlist stuff to find the tools you need. Simply search for a book from your inventory as you normally would, and you’ll see the tools prominently displayed next to each matching listing.

Took me a half hour just to delete a book. Had an awful time figuring out what you did. Why don’t you show and tell the dealers before you pitch a curve?

It seems very inconvenient to me since since I mainly use the bulk uploads or bulk deletes. Now You have the links I use in a much small print below a big box and it’s hard to find and read.

Thanks for the tip, SYBERKATZ – we’ll see about making the link a little larger.

So, just how do I access the old style search page? In my opinion the “new, improved” version isn’t!
Plus, I am using Firefox 3.5.11 and the search button is thrown out to the far right. Next time you do an update to the search page can you not make it easier to delete multiple listings of the same title. I have just had to delete 10 copies (different editions) of a magazine and your system does not make it easy.

      Hi Good Old Book Exchange,

Deleting a book shouldn’t be any different than before – just the way the search results are displayed. Can you let us know what’s tripping you up?

I’m still behind your efforts to improve 100%. Change happens! Maybe if on the Bookseller Menu you added a link that simply reads: See Your Entire Inventory, then within that, have a prominent Delete a Book button?

I’d like to know how to search my inventory by the letter of the alphabet…either that or I’ll have to list all my inventory as Featured Books because that’s the only visual the site is giving to my customers.
