Feedback wanted: new “grouped” search results

We’re testing new functionality in our search and are asking for your feedback and input! As you know, Biblio is constantly working to improve its site to become the very best site for discerning book lovers, book collectors and booksellers everywhere.  This week, we’re trying out a new way of displaying search results (only in certain cases, see below), and would love to hear your thoughts. FAQ: What is a saved search or want list?

As many seasoned book collectors know, used, rare, and out-of-print books can move fast on the internet: especially more desirable or scarce books. Occasionally, when you search for a book on Biblio, you may find that we don’t have any copies available at the moment.  Don’t give up hope, though!  That elusive, rare book may be a lot closer to your fingertips (and bookshelves) than you think. Biblio booksellers add millions of books to our site (yes, that’s a literal … Continued

New Search Feature: Search for Books by Illustrator

Wizard of Oz popup
We used the new illustrator feature in our book search to turn up this popup of the Wizard of Oz done by famed illustrator/book artist Robert Sabuda.

We’re happy to announce a new search feature on Biblio.com and Biblio.co.uk: the ability to specify book illustrator as a criteria when searching for books!

As far as we know, this makes Biblio the only major rare & out-of-print book marketplace to offer this capability.  Most importantly, though, we hope this tool proves useful in helping everyone find the books they are looking for, especially those looking for a specific edition of a book with a particular illustrator’s work in mind.

Turn any Biblio booksearch into an RSS feed

content syndication with rssFor those out there who are – shall we say, as a term for people who are book-ish and tech-ish – “classically geeky,”  you can now turn any Biblio book search you can dream of into an RSS feed that you can integrate into your feed reader and get near-real time updates as new used & rare books matching your search are added to Biblio.  Or, if you’d like, you can imbed a feed (or two, or three!) into your blog for some (free) really astoundingly bookish content!

Simply look for the RSS icon rss to the right of your book search results, just next to the facebook and twitter share options.

Here are a couple examples of some cool searches we’ve added to our own feedburners:

New search feature – Minimum copies on hand

Looking for multiple cheap textbooks for the classroom? Try Biblio's new "minimum copies on hand" search and take the guesswork out of buying books for your school!

You can now search Biblio to locate sellers who are selling multiple copies of a book – great when you are looking to purchase, say, 6 copies of Catcher in the Rye (for example, if you’re a classroom teacher!) or multiple copies of cheap textbooks.

Simply visit the advanced search, and look for the the field at the bottom that reads “At least
copies on hand”.  Enter the minimum number of copies you’re looking for, and we’ll do our best to find a bookseller who has at least that number of books or textbooks in stock.

If you’re with a school, library or other institution, be sure to also check out our tips for making textbook purchasing easy, which also includes information on how you can order books or textbooks for your classroom using a purchase order!
