High Holidays Mahzor. Two Volumes: Volume1: New Year's service - Volume 2: Day of Atonement service. Synagogue Service. Arranged for the Congregation b'nai Jeshurun of New York by Henry S. Jacobs, Minister of the Congregation. Jacobs prepared this Hebrew-English liturgy for his synagogue, Bnai Jeshurun of New York. (Goldman, Hebrew Printing in America, entry # 80) . Henry S. Jacobs was born in 1827 in Kingston, Jamaica. He served there as a rabbi and, after immigrating to America in 1854, in Richmond, Charleston, Augusta, New Orleans and New York (Bnai Jeshurun) . He was the first president of the Board of Jewish Ministers and the vice president of the New York chapter of the Alliance Israelite Universelle. He died in 1893. (Goldman) .
