Cubberley, about whom we can find no additional information. Original poster for an exhibition of naval aircraft at Philadelphia's Commercial Museum in 1919. Various aircraft are depicted in flight. Possibly done in-house for the museum, we have only seen or heard of one other example (on blue paper), and presume it to be rare.

Gilt a little dull on the spine, some rubbing to the cover with slight loss of color at a couple of spots and along the fore-edge. Still Very Good, lacking the dustwrapper. Original maroon cloth with gilt lettering. Illustrated with numerous photographs. This copy is SIGNED by the famous aviator on the blank recto of the frontispiece. Earhart's account of her transatlantic flight when she became the FIRST WOMAN TO TRAVEL BY AIR ACROSS THE ATLANTIC. Earhart was lost at sea in her attempt, shortly before her fortieth birthday in 1937, to become the first woman to fly around the world. After her disappearance the most extensive air and sea search in naval history to date took place. After spending $4 million and scouring 250,000 square miles of ocean over a two-week period, the United States government reluctantly called off the operation.

Light stains on the wrappers, one leaf has pulled loose, else near fine. Trade catalog for nautical, ground, and aviation searchlights. On the rectos of each leaf is a large photograph in color of a searchlight (on a few pages two photographs appear; one photo is uncolored) with a printed description of the searchlight on the facing page. Colorful and engaging. Rare. *OCLC* locates a single copy at the Henry Ford Museum, that is almost certainly the same or similar to this with 19 pages (we assume they mean leaves) and attributes the date of 1920. My listing INCLUDES PHOTO OF ACTUAL BOOK for sale. Book FINE/ Covers NEAR FINE. NEVER OPENED. Covers are light blue, lettering black, Dept. of the Navy Air Systems Command logo on front. Spine is sunned so that the light blue is now grey but the black text of title is clear, spine has a few minor wrinkles, perhaps from age acting on the glue. The front and back covers are flat, clean, bright, no rips, very slightly bent corners, no spine creases, a bit of sunning around all edges. Spine is slightly rounded instead of sharply right angled. Pages edges very slightly sunned. Inside of book is tight, clean, bright, flat. One page dog eared about 1/2 inch, restored flat. Book is unread but may have gently fallen causing it to be slightly over-opened at page 14-15 but spine is not exposed and binding is not broken. No loose or missing…
