REVIEW
King Crimson is not a band, a bunch of individuals or a "sound" like so many other bands who have stumbled upon a formula and have stuck doggedly to it for a whole career. Rather, King Crimson is a way of doing things, an expression of pushing it`s (and everyone elses) music ever forward into uncharted areas. It`s important to realise that before you indulge yourself here. You will not hear radio friendly rock (although some songs are easy on the ear) but you will be taken on an incredibly rewarding musical journey that is not for everyone. In 1981, King Crimson returned after a seven year hiatus but sounded nothing like their 70`s incarnation and recorded three albums unlike anything you ever heard before. In 1984 when band leader Robert Fripp decided they weren`t progressing any more they disbanded again. They returned in 1994 as an awesomely heavy six piece which again sounded nothing like either the 70`s or 80`s bands. Now THAT`S progressive rock. All of the best moments from those eras are gathered here for anyone with an open mind and the stomach for music that is sometimes disturbingly dark but very, very good.
