This is the catalog of an exhibition of the photographs of Hu Ch'ung-hsien at the Pacific Art Museum in Padadena, California in 1983; the photographs were taken over a two-year period in the garden of the painter Chang Ta-ch'ien in Taipei; the photographs, evocative of classical Chinese still-life paintings, have inscriptions--poems, reminiscences, and observations--in Chinese calligraphy by Chang Ta-ch'ien; includes 68 reproductions of the photographs (eight in color) with translations of the inscriptions and an introducton by Richard Strassberg (light gray covers with black lettering; a bright, clean, tight copy)
