Dublin: Printed by George Abraham Grierson, 1754. xii, [xxiv], 977; [351] pp. Quarto (10" x 8"). Later cloth, red and black lettering pieces to spine, endpapers renewed. Light soiling, minor rubbing to lettering pieces, corners bumped, light toning to text, internally clean. Ex-library. Location label to foot of spine, stamp to title page, annotations to its verso, other stamps to rear pastedown. A solid copy. $350. * Only edition. This abridgement is valuable for its insights into the political and legal history of Ireland in the mid-eighteenth century. This was the era when Georgian Ireland was beginning to enjoy a period of prosperity and a degree of political autonomy. Four supplements were issued in 1756, 1758, 1760 and 1762. OCLC locates 7 copies in North America, 3 in law libraries (Harvard, Notre Dame, South Texas College of Law). Sweet & Maxwell, A Legal Bibliography of the British Commonwealth 4:11.
