About This Item

Norwalk, Connecticut: The Easton Press, 1999. [1999] Deep maroon, FULL LEATHER BINDING featuring beautiful gilt designs/gilt lettering. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. [Not a trade book, book on demand, or paperback - it's the leather-bound edition.] Sophisticated, fine binding has four raised ridges on spine. Lettering, designs stamped with gorgeous accents of 22kt. Gold -- a hallmark of fine bookmaking. This beautifully bound book was hand selected from individually tanned hides. Textured and shaded, acid-neutral paper won't turn yellow over time. Pages are Smyth-sewn into binding for permanence (not glued like ordinary books). Endpapers are beautiful satin moiré. Edges gilded on three sides to enhance the elegance of the book. Satin ribbon page marker bound in. Condition: New, pristine. Collector purchased book new, kept it in temperature-controlled bookcase. Free of the smell of a cigarette or cigar smoker. Book never read. This is the fascinating tale of Macon Leary, a detached and unemotional travel-hating travel writer. When Macon's wife, grief-stricken after the death of their child, leaves him, Macon drifts into a comfortable loneliness. Macon soon meets Muriel Pritchett, a brash, spontaneous, and passionate dog-obedience trainer, and finds himself in a strange and new emotional landscape where he is forced to decide whether he has the courage to be happy. This is a profound and uncompromising vision of the loneliness and longings that divide people. The novel is the 1986 winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award. Full leather binding, signed by the author Anne Tyler. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly. .. Signed by the Author. Full-Leather. Fine.

We are a well-established, well-respected dealer that is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion.
