An Address on Temperance

by Channing, William E

Condition: Fair/No Jacket

Boston: Weeks, Jordan and Company, 1837. Book. Fair. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Binding has spine chip, major corner bump, pencil eraser size splotch back cover. Exterior hinging looks decent. Inscription penciled first end sheet and this sheet and pastedown have speckling and foxing. Lots of foxing is present throughout, though mercifully text is supple and not chipped or dog eared. The major flaw, worthy of restoration is a gap at the last gutter (twixt last endsheet and pastedown) for some reason, unusually, it affects interior only, outside is fine. From the original collectors notes "Delivered on the request of the Council of Massachusetts Temperance Society, at The Odeon Boston, February 28, 1837 , the day appointed for the simultaneous meeting of the friends of Temperance throughout the world.".
