About This Item

New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, 1933. First edition. 17 illustrations by John Farleigh. 8vo, publisher’s original black cloth, lettered in white on upper cover and spine. 75 pp. An attractive copy, showing very well, the textblock and illustrations clean and tight, some very light mellowing. George Bernard Shaw was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925, a ceremony at which the spokesman presented Shaw’s prize with winged words, “for his work which was marked by both idealism and humanity.”
