An Everyman's Library edition of this fictional description of a journey through Persia which was first published in 1824, and affords the reader a glimpse into the Persia of the 19th century. Includes an introductory 'appreciation' by Sir Walter Scott. Entry 679 in Everyman's Library Fiction series, edited by Ernest Rhys. Undated, but possibly published c.1914. --- In flatback binding style 1, full carmine cloth-covered boards with Reginald Knowles-designed gilt spine titling & decorations, blindstamped J. M. Dent vignette to front cover, black topstain and fancy Knowles woodcut art at title page & frontis. Lacks the dust jacket. --- Gilt spine titling has dulled considerably, and with partially-erased prior owner's signatures in ink to front endpapers, and with acidic staining to front and rear endpapers, otherwise a sound, tightly-bound copy.; 16mo - 6 to 7 in. tall; xvi, 399 pages .
