Although the book is listed as inscribed by author, no miracle has occurred. A hand written note from Morier is taped to the front paste down. The handwriting is execrable, but we think it says "Dear Mrs. Courtenay, Mrs Morier & I are very much ? ? for your Spring Play ? - 'tis full of good fun - I only wish I had seen the ?. Mrs. Morier will be happy to see you when you can call - she is too much of an invalid to make apologies for not calling upon you - she knows you will forgive her. Very truly Yours, James Morier. 82 ? ? 31 ? '46". The book is in great shape, but without the dust jacket. It is clean, tight, square with sharp corners and unmarked. It is minimally age darkened. It has 404, clear pages with some toning at the edges illustrated with black & white drawings and Baldridge's lovely, exotic, erotic color plates bound in boards covered in decorative, color, pictorial coth with gold titles on the spine.
