New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1910. First Edition. With 50 illustrations from photographs by members of the expedition, including a portrait frontispiece and a map; the photogravures by Kermit Roosevelt and other members of the expedition and the drawings by Philip R. Goodwin, a number with protective captioned tissue guards. Thick, Royal 8vo, in the publisher's original brown cloth, gilt-lettered on the upper cover and spine, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. xvi, 529, including appendices and index pp. A very good copy, the hinges tight, the text-block and illustrations in good order, the binding with some mellowing to the spine panel, a bit of abrasion to the head of the spine, and some light evidence of age.. FIRST EDITION OF ONE OF PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT'S MOST DESIRABLE BOOKS and a fascinating and well written account by one of America's greatest sportsmen, as well as the 26th President of the United States. This work was the result of Roosevelt's ten month hunting trip through Central and Northern Africa, begun after leaving the White House in March 1909 and relates the journey from Mombasa through the mountain regions of British East Africa, to Victoria Nyanza, through the Congo and Sudan to Khartoum and on to Cairo via the Nile. As well as being one of the great books on big game hunting, it is also of considerable interest for the natural scientist.

1887 ARCHERY Theory & Practice England ROBIN HOOD Techniques Weapons Bow & ArrowHorace A Ford was a 19th-century, twelve-time champion of the Grand National Archery Meeting in the United Kingdom. He held the highest recorded mark for over 70 years. Ford has been described as "Great Britain's Greatest Archer" and even American Maurice Thompson stated, "...no better Archer ever lived."
This late 19th-century edition of Ford's 'Theory and Practice of Archery' glances at the history of Archery accounting for ancient England, Robin Hood, the medieval times and all the way to the foundation of the National Archery Society in the late 1800s. This work also focuses on Ford's unique scientific style including bow and arrow type, feathering, stances, scoring and many other factors. This work is illustrated with diagrams.

Description:
1880 1st ed Juliana Berners Book of Saint Albans FISHING Angling Compleat AnglerA fine reissue of the first English book on angling!
Juliana Berners was an early 15th-century English writer who is known for her works on English heraldry and sports. Most notably, she wrote treatises on fishing, hunting, and hawking. Originally known as 'Book of Saint Albans', this treatise was immensely popular, so much so that Berners added the section on fishing later. Entitled 'Treatyse of Fysshynge with an Angle', this section offers practical advice for fishing and is known to have been the primary source for Isaak Walton's treatise on fishing 'The Compleat Angler'.
This 1880 printing is the first issue of the photographic facsimile edition published in London. It should be noted that this facsimile edition is considered "one of the best facsimiles ever executed" by Westwood & Satchell.
