Some toning, spotting and markings to the rear panel. Some edge wear and a few closed tears with loss at the spine ends (see images). The wrapper is the first issue and is correctly priced at 16s. net. Despite its faults, the wrapper presents very well in the removable Brodart archival cover. 'In March 1954 Peter Wildeblood was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment for homosexual offences. The case in which he was involved - the 'Montagu Case' - was the subject of considerable controversy and was largely responsible for the Government's decision to set up a Committee to enquire into the whole question of homosexuality and the laws relating to it.' The classic account of a homosexual in 1950s Britain which was successfully adapted by the BBC for TV in 2017 starring Daniel Mays.
