About This Item
Portland, OR: Prensa de Lagar, 1969. First printing. (25) pp., 8vo. Saddle-stapled into printed wrappers. Designed and published by Carlos Reyes in an edition of 450 copies, of which the first 25 were numbered and signed by the author on the title page; this is number 3 from the signed copies. As new.
The scarce first book by Brigham, a one-time student of Robert Duncan, whose daughter Heloise (also a poet) was married to noted New Mexico poet Keith Wilson; a remarkable family. Born Bess Miller Moore, she later changed her name to the more colloquial phonetic spelling. Her work has become more widely known in recent years through the efforts of C. D. Wright, who edited a selection of her short poems, published by Wright's Lost Roads Press, which also offers an annual award in Brigham's name for a woman writer. From the publisher's last remaining copies, in pristine condition.
