New Delhi: Lala Kalit Akadami, 1956. Book. Good. Soft cover. First Edition. [iii]pp, Introduction, 20 24cm x 35cm reproductions of cave paintings tipped onto captioned gray sheets 34.5 x 46cm. Folio. Wrappers but back panel lacking, front wrapper severely chipped on spine side (about two inches lacking on entire side cutting into left side of titling), foreedge edgeworn and chipped at bottom, title page edgeworn with one chip, Introduction page edgeworn only, the gray cardboard backing sheets for the illustrations are generally very good with occasional corner wear. There is an extra copy of Plate II (Decoration on the ceiling of the vestibule. Cave 1). The famous caves are in the State of Hyderabad on the Deccan plateau near the border of Khandesh. This is a representative selection of Buddhist Art ifrom among the many paintings in the Ajanta caves and was produced on the 2500th anniversary of the Buddha's Parinirvana with the cooperation of the Department of Archaeology of the Government of India and the National Academy of Art (Lala Kalit Akadami)..
